On 26 January, the RSAL opened the regular seminar “Psychology and the Practice of Art”

Date: 01.03.2017

The first topic of the seminar was “Lev Vygotsky’s The Psychology of Art and Personality Development Practices.”

The RSAL Readers’ Museum assembled scientists, philosophers, psychologists, and students—those who are interested in the heritage of the outstanding Russian psychologist Lev Vygotsky, whose views on the psychology of art are still the subject of professional discussions.

Discussing Vygotsky’s contribution to the study of the perception of art and his book The Psychology of Art were A. M. Aylamazyan, PhD, and E. Y. Patyaeva, PhD, who are senior staff members in Personality Psychology Department of the Psychology School in the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The meeting generated lively and interesting dialogue that was attended by the well-known scientist and philosopher V. M. Rozin. The Library became the site of a professional discussion of Lev Vygotsky’s ideas, transforming his views and their relevance to the contemporary perception of a work of art.

The subject and date of the second seminar to be organised by the RSAL, the Personality Psychology Department of the Psychology School of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the Geptakhor Center for the Musical Development of Movement named for Stephanida Rudneva will be announced later.
