It is an independent subdivision of the Russian State Art Library and works as a branch (a public library) in Petrovsky Lines, 1. The department registers readers for lending, carries out library service fulfils topic enquires on the base of its stock, studies its readers’ circle and information needs, organizes exhibitions of new accessions.
Information on the stock. The stock amounts to 65,000 printed editions and is a part of the RSAL basic stocks. The home and foreign fiction and dramaturgy are about half of the lending stocks; editions on theatre, music and cinema is a quarter of it.
The users of the lending are not only specialists in different branches of culture, but also the inhabitants of the Central district of Moscow. Owing to an increase in the number of educationalinstitutions for specialists in culture, TV and arts, the librarians’ work load has increased too.
Catalogues and cards files. The department works with two alphabetical catalogues (a public and a staff ones) and several card files: analytical entry of literary and art magazines and dramaturgic almanacs (prose, poetry, dramaturgy); entry of titles of plays with a little number of roles (for one/four actors); entry of periodicals received by the department (persons included).

Saturday 12 a.m. – 6 p.m.
The last Friday of every month the lending is closed for users.
