The second lecture given by O.R. Khromov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts
On February, 27th Russian State Art Library presented the second lecture given by Oleg Khromov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, from the course dedicated to the history of book and book illustration in the Modern Age.
Oleg Khromov spoke about the history of handicraft and mechanical production of paper, of using paper in typographical production, the peculiarities and appearance characteristics of handcrafted paper. He also spoke about methods of discovering watermarks and their position on the page depending on book format. At his seminar Oleg Khromov demonstrated how filigrees look like on paper produced in Russia and abroad in books and unbound pages from the collections of RSAL.
The next lecture of Oleg Khromov is taking place on March, 13th.
